THEN, 10.000 FOR YOU. But for Japanese people, we don’t think 10.000, but 1.0000=1 MAN
What is MAN?
In the INTERNATIONAL NUMBER SYSTEM, the commas are placed: ones, thousands, millions, billions, and so on. In other words, commas are used to mark off digits in groups of THREE.=1.000.000.000
But the Japanese Number System uses commas to mark off digits in groups of FOUR:
Ones, 10 thousand, 100 million. 1.0000.0000=100.000.000
So, when you shop in Japan and see prices, the first thing to do is to move commas.
Let’s learn MAN! We call 10.000=1. 0000=1 MAN. Here, we have to say ICHI.
20.000=2.0000
30.000=3.0000
4 Man
5 Man
6 Man
7 Man
8 Man
90.000=9 Man
100.000=10 Man
And then we keep on going
110.000=11 Man
120.000=12 Man
200.000=20 Man
300.000=30 Man
400.000=40 Man
500.000=50 Man
600.000=60 Man
1 million=100.0000=100 Man: = 100.0000
2 million= 200Man,
10 milion= 1000 Man: 1000.0000=10.000.000=ten million いっせんまん
100.000.000=a hundred million=1 OKU: 1.0000.0000
